Big East Player of the Year declares for the 2024 draft.

Devin Carter, a Providence guard, has decided to join the 2024 NBA draft and forego his remaining NCAA eligibility, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.

Carter, the No. 17 overall prospect on ESPN’s big board, had a strong junior season for the Friars in 2023-24, averaging 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.8 steals in 35.3 minutes per game across 33 games (all starts). He converted 47.3% of his shots from the field, including 37.7% of his 6.8 three-pointers per game.

Carter, who started his college career at South Carolina before moving to Providence in 2022, topped the Big East in scoring and was voted conference Player of the Year. He was not named to the Associated Press All-America teams, although he did receive an honorable mention on many ballots.

Carter, while being just 6’3″, has a wingspan of 6’9″, excels at rebounding, and is regarded as a “versatile and impactful” defensive player in college basketball, according to Givony. He is the son of Anthony Carter, a former NBA guard and current assistant coach on Taylor Jenkins’ Grizzlies staff.
