Wests Tigers confirm winger David Nofoaluma has left the club.

David Nofoaluma’s departure from the Wests Tigers has been confirmed, with the veteran winger and the club agreeing to terminate his contract immediately by mutual consent.

Nofoaluma had two years left on his contract, but tensions between the joint venture and their all-time leading try-scorer had been simmering for some time after he received a series of breach notices in quick succession.

David Nofoaluma leaves Wests Tigers following a heated standoff.

The writing appeared to be on the wall for Nofoaluma when he joined the Melbourne Storm on a short-term contract two years ago, as the Tigers finished bottom.

However, he returned to the fray last season and appeared 15 times as the club won a second consecutive wooden spoon.

The 30-year-old has been on the outs since Benji Marshall replaced Tim Sheens, with the two reportedly disagreeing on the new training programme that the rookie coach has imposed at Concord.

And now the Tigers have confirmed the two parties have mutually agreed to cut ties.

“We thank David for all that he has given to this club over the past decade,” Tigers interim CEO Shane Richardson said in a short statement.

“We wish David all the very best with his future.”

Nofoaluma will allegedly receive a healthy payout to leave the Tigers after it was reported he had become angry after being told by Marshall he would not play in the NRL under him throughout his remaining time at the club.

Since debuting for the Tigers in 2013, Nofoaluma has made 192 appearances and brought up a century of four-pointers last year.

The ugly exit of Nofoaluma continues a period of significant turmoil for the faltering club, with Marshall tasked with turning things around.

Following an internal assessment, the entire board was terminated, and Nofoaluma joins a lengthy list of players who have left the team this offseason, including Luke Brooks, Daine Laurie, and Shawn Blore.
