With the addition of Odell Beckham Jr., the Dolphins’ receiver unit is about to alter.
The Miami Dolphins have signed Odell Beckham Jr., which means their roster will be reduced.
In 2024, the Miami Dolphins will have three new starters. Beckham, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle will be out front, but the team usually only keeps six receivers to begin the season. Miami got two more prospects in the NFL Draft. The wide receivers’ room is unexpectedly packed, which suggests that painful cuts will be made before Week 1.
With OBJ now under contract, the future of veteran WR River Cracraft will be uncertain. Miami is likely to maintain Braxton Berrios as their fourth wideout. At least one of the two rookies, Malik Washington or Tahj Washington, will make the final 53, leaving only one space open for Mike McDaniel.
Would Odell Beckham Jr.’s signing be bad news for wide receiver Erik Ezukanma?
Cracraft and Erik Ezukanma will compete for the final berth. Ezukanma had a lot of talent when he was picked by the Dolphins, but in his two years, he hasn’t impressed anyone outside of training camp. Cracraft has proven to be dependable, but he is a situational figure in the Dolphins offence.
It’s difficult to forecast the direction the Dolphins will go now that the WR unit is one place smaller as a result of the Beckham acquisition. My money is on Cracraft staying around. Ezukanma is simply not reliable right now, but another terrific camp will almost probably change that.
With two rookies on the roster, the Dolphins’ wide receiver room will be entertaining to watch. From the start of mini camps and OTAs, the competition for the final position, or two, will be exciting for fans to watch.
