GOOD NEWS: GUESS WHO RETURNS TO TENNESSEE?

Too-early opening statements: Several game spreads in Tennessee showed NC State? Florida? Alabama? Check if the Vols are the favorite.

The college football season won’t begin for another four months, but the gambling industry never sleeps. We have a good idea of everyone’s roster heading into the 2024 season now that spring practices have concluded and the majority of the transfer portal reorganization has been completed.

In the majority of way too early preseason polls—which, as we all know, are usually meaningless—Tennessee has settled into the 15-20 zone. Though DraftKings Sportsbook released a few Tennessee matches this week, lines out of Vegas can still be helpful.

Justin Joly - UConn Huskies Tight End - ESPN

Let’s examine them.

NC State vs. Tennessee (-5.5) at Charlotte
This is a sneakily good game; NC State is a very strong program that continually uses the transfer link to reload. They signed Coastal Carolina’s very productive quarterback Grayson McCall this year, which should be a significant improvement over Brennan Armstrong from the previous campaign. They also signed Justin Joly, a tight end from UConn who we all know from last season, and wide receiver Noah Rogers from Ohio State.

Tennessee (+5) versus Oklahoma
Josh Heupel is expected to start as the underdog when he returns to Norman. In this situation, the Sooners will turn to quarterback Jackson Arnold, which will set up a major matchup between Nico Iamaleava and other previous top prospects.

Notably, this will be Oklahoma’s first-ever SEC game.

Florida (-11) vs. Tennessee
On paper, the Florida Gators are in for a difficult season, but in this rivalry, that really doesn’t seem to matter. Regardless of the team or the setting, Tennessee always appears to get the greatest chance for the Gators.

Tennessee vs. Alabama (+2)
At least Tennessee supporters can rejoice in sending Nick Saban out of Neyland Stadium for the last time in 2022 after a loss. The Nick Saban era is finished. Kalen DeBoer arrives from Washington with his inventive offensive. Vegas believes it will be a nail-biter because it already feels like a shootout.

Tennessee vs Georgia (+17.5)
Kirby’s device keeps running. The NFL traded away Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey, but experienced quarterback Carson Beck will still be the focal point of Georgia’s attack. On November 16, Tennessee will have to face a buzzsaw in Athens as they will once again be heavy on defense.
