Ferrari confirms recruitment of former Mercedes duo, with Jerome d’Ambrosio designated Deputy Team Principal.

Jerome d’Ambrosio will become Ferrari’s Deputy Team Principal after leaving his position as director of Mercedes’ young driver programme.

D’Ambrosio will report directly to team manager Fred Vasseur and will make the same shift that Lewis Hamilton will undertake next year – from Brackley to Maranello – while simultaneously serving as Head of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy.

Loic Serra, the Silver Arrows’ performance director, will join D’Ambrosio in changing Mercedes for Ferrari as the Scuderia’s Head of Chassis Performance Engineering.

Both are set to begin on their new duties at Ferrari on October 1, this year.
Born in Belgium in 1985, D’Ambrosio was a successful racing driver until 2020, winning GP2 and three Formula E races, as well as making 20 F1 Grands Prix appearances for Virgin Racing and Lotus between 2011 and 2012.

Before joining Mercedes as Driver Development Director in 2023, D’Ambrosio was Team Principal for Venturi Racing in Formula E.

Serra, who will report to Ferrari’s Technical Director Enrico Cardile, will be responsible for a variety of disciplines at Maranello, including Track Engineering, Aero Development, Aero Operations, and Vehicle Performance.

In addition to his expertise with Mercedes, he has worked with Michelin and the erstwhile BMW-Sauber team.
