The Hammers’ Europa Conference League victory the previous season was undoubtedly the high point of his tenure, but this year has seen a slight stagnation as the team is just marginally placed in the top half of the Premier League standings.
West Ham made the decision to make a change, and in the summer, Julen Lopetegui will take control. The Spaniard left Wolves last year and hasn’t had a job since.
Michail Antonio is eager to work at West Ham alongside Julen Lopetegui.
Lopetegui has a remarkable resume having managed Real Madrid and Spain in addition to winning the Europa League with Sevilla.
Additionally, Michail Antonio stated on The Footballer’s Football Podcast that he is thrilled to get the opportunity to collaborate with Lopetegui.
“The manager has accomplished so much already, and I hear the fans chanting that he will live on as a legend at the club for the rest of his life because, well, he won a cup—something that many managers haven’t been able to do.” Football is therefore a never-ending cycle, like a Ferris wheel, with managers coming and going, players coming and going, and owners coming and going. Therefore, he remarked of Moyes, “Now is his time, and obviously it’s not a bad time because everything that he’s achieved and everything that he’s done, it’s time to pass it on.”
