Horned Frogs Sign USC Transfer Bigby for 2024-25 Roster

Taylor Bigby, the No. 29 overall recruit in the 2021 class, will reunite with TCU head coach Mark Campbell and his staff.

Bigby has signed a financial aid agreement to play redshirt junior basketball for TCU in the 2024-25 season.

Bigby, a 6-1 guard, spent the previous two seasons at USC, making 18 starts in 65 appearances. She joined with Oregon ahead of the 2021-22 season. Campbell and deputy head coach Xavier Lopez recruited Bigby while they were assistant coaches in Eugene.

Bigby, originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, was the best reserve on a USC team that won the Pac-12 Tournament and made it to the Elite Eight this season. During her two seasons with the Trojans, she averaged 4.6 points in 19 minutes per game.

Bigby, a multidimensional athlete, played point guard throughout high school before transitioning to combo guard in Los Angeles. Bigby frequently protected the opposition team’s most talented scorer.

In 2023-24, she shot 40% from the field and connected on 37% of her 3-point attempts. Bigby finished in the top-20 among all Pac-12 players in terms of 3-point percentage (12th) and 3-pointers per 40 minutes (2.1, 18th). She made multiple three-pointers in ten contests.

Bigby appeared in 34 of 35 games and made 11 starts, five of which came in Pac-12 play this season. She started USC’s final six nonconference games.

She scored double figures three times. Bigby scored a season-high 15 points on 5-8 shooting from downtown on December 18 against Cal State Fullerton, followed by an 11-point performance three days later at Long Beach State. She scored 14 points against No. 3 Colorado on January 21.

Bigby returned as the Trojans’ sixth player as a redshirt freshman in 2022-23. She started seven games and averaged 18 minutes, 4.4 points, and 1.6 rebounds. Bigby recorded three double-digit scoring outings, including a career-high 21 points in her first collegiate start against Merrimack. On Jan. 15, 2023, she played a career-high 39 minutes and went 3-3 from distance in the Trojans’ upset victory over No. 2 Stanford. Bigby placed third.

Injuries limited Bigby to just nine appearances during her lone season at Oregon.

Bigby was a consensus four-star recruit coming out of Centennial High School. She led Centennial to a trio of state championships and repeated as Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year from 2020-21. She was also a finalist for the national Gatorade Player of the Year award in 2020 and was selected to the watch list for the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy for High School Girls’ Player of the Year in 2021. As a junior in 2019-20, Bigby averaged 10.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game in leading Centennial to a sixth straight state title. She was honored as USA Today Nevada Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2018-19 while also garnering her first of three sets of first team All-State accolades.

Bigby will have two years to complete two seasons at TCU.

She is the first transfer player signed by TCU this offseason. With Bigby’s acquisition, the Horned Frogs’ roster now stands at eight players. She joins a guard room that includes seniors Madison Conner, Agnes Emma-Nnopu, and Una Jovanovic, as well as junior Knisha Godfrey, who will redshirt the 2023-24 season. TCU also welcomes back Sedona Prince, an All-Big 12 centre, as well as juniors Aaliyah Roberson and DaiJa Turner.

TCU expects to announce additional signees in the coming weeks.
