St. Louis cannot afford to lose the rookie shortstop after a good start.
So far this season, the St. Louis Cardinals have had a difficult situation owing to injuries.


St. Louis has had an up-and-down start to the season, going 8-9 thus far. A slew of ailments has been a major contributor to the Cardinals’ inconsistency. St. Louis has yet to be at full strength this season, so any suggestion of an injury is concerning.

Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn recently raised eyebrows when he was pulled out of play, and it appears that the reason is that he has been battling with lower-back discomfort, according to Katie Woo of The Athletic.

“Masyn Winn was dealing with lower-back stiffness in Arizona,” Woo stated. “No spasms, and he feels like he’s on the other side now. Explains some of his playing time decisions from the previous series.”

The teenage phenom took over the club’s shortstop position in Spring Training and has been quite impressive. He is likely the team’s most successful offensive player this season, and he is now slashing.In 15 games, he batted 370/.388/.500 and had two triples, five RBIs, and two stolen bases.

If the Cardinals lost Winn for any length of time, it would severely harm the lineup while also considerably reducing the club’s defensive capabilities. Winn has excelled both offensively and defensively, and the team is currently depleted due to other ailments.

Winn appears to have escaped any severe injury at this time, although his back will need to be monitored going forward.
