Lakers Need to Focus on Trading Zach LaVine Following Unexpected Report
The Los Angeles Lakers should definitely think about acquiring Zach LaVine during the offseason, according to a recent report. With Los Angeles hoping to rebound from a first-round loss, the rumor mill is swirling with Lakers talk. The decision to fire Darvin Ham is a blatant sign that LA will make the necessary adjustments to get back into the race.
Rob Pelinka has another obvious target available, and a major addition to the roster looks to be in the works. The Chicago Bulls “will attempt” to trade guard Zach LaVine this offseason, according to Evan Sidery of Forbes. Nevertheless, Sidery points out that LaVine’s market is “severely limited” and Chicago “might have to attach an asset to get off LaVine at this rate.”

The Lakers should be excited about this news for a number of reasons. The most evident is that LaVine is a dangerous scoring threat on the wings who, when paired with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, may elevate Los Angeles’ attack and add a distinctive offensive weapon.Another encouraging step is Chicago’s motivation to separate from LaVine. James supposedly would have supported the Lakers acquiring LaVine around the trade deadline this year. As a result, Los Angeles now has another opportunity to please its best player by pursuing the explosive former No. 13 pick.
The best part is that it seems like getting LaVine won’t be as expensive as it previously would have been. If anything, Los Angeles might receive additional assets in addition to LaVine, if it can balance its books.Of course, LaVine’s current contract, which is worth roughly $138 million overall, has three more years left on it, so any trade that includes him will have to pay a hefty price. He’s undoubtedly the kind of star addition that this team needs, and given his apparent availability, he’s a morerealistic goal than some of the other players this summer.
