Reed Rohlman, an ex-Clemson baseball standout, has died at the age of 29.
Rohlman was an All-American twice while playing for the Tigers.


Reed Rohlman, a former Clemson Tigers outfielder and two-time All-American who was later drafted by the Kansas City Royals, died in Florida on Wednesday, according to the school. He was 29.

Rohlman played for the Tigers between 2014 and 2017. Throughout his college career, he batted.329 with 11 home runs and 135 RBIs.

Kansas City drafted him in the 35th round of the 2017 MLB Draft, and he spent three years in the organization’s minor league system.

According to the Greenville News, he died in a car crash in Hobe Sound, Florida.

“It’s very sad for the Clemson baseball family and everyone who knew him,” Rohlman’s former Clemson coach, Jack Leggett, told the site. “He was an excellent player and an even better person. He always had a positive attitude and was an excellent teammate.

“Everyone enjoyed being around him. He was pleasant, low-maintenance, and consistently respectful and thankful. “The world will miss Reed Rohlman.”

Rohlman became the second Clemson freshman in history to receive All-America honours in 2015. He was a second-team All-American in 2016 and helped the Tigers win the ACC Championship.

Tyler Jackson, a former teammate, described Rohlman’s death as “devastating to a lot of people.”

Rohlman appeared in 251 minor league games, including Rookie League Burlington and Idaho Falls, as well as Single-A Lexington. In the minors, he hit.261 and had 15 home runs.
