After receiving some initial criticism for his quarterback rankings, C.J. Stroud is reconsidering his mind about Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

The Houston Texans quarterback caused a controversy by leaving Allen off his list of the league’s best five quarterbacks, but he later issued a revised rating that replaced Allen with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Stroud’s first list was released in an Instagram teaser for his June 2 participation on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, where he ranked himself higher than other well-known quarterbacks and initially passed by Allen before taking to social media to correct his list.

In his podcast appearance, Stroud listed Patrick Mahomes as the league’s top quarterback. He included two-time league MVP Lamar Jackson, himself, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, and Hurts.

The list received immediate attention, particularly the absence of both Allen and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. According to CBS Sports’ Bryan DeArdo, Stroud later shared another list on his Instagram stories, this time expressing more love for the Bills quarterback.

“In his updated list (which he posted on his Instagram account), Stroud kept the top-three quarterbacks the same, but gave the No. 4 spot to Josh Allen and moved Prescott to the fifth and final spot while omitting Hurts,” wrote DeArdo. “Stroud stated that he believes Joe Burrow is one of the NFL’s top five quarterbacks. Burrow, on the other hand, missed over half of the 2023 season due to injury, which is almost certainly why he was left off of Stroud’s list.
