It’s a Huge setback: St. George star Sends farewell message to fans as he depart the team due to….…’

The Dragons have announced the departure of Zac Lomax at the end of the season.

The St George Illawarra Dragons have struck an agreement with Zac Lomax and his management over his departure from the club at the end of the current season.

While Lomax will fulfil his contractual obligations with the Dragons for the 2024 season, his contract years for 2025 and 2026 will be terminated with no financial contribution from the club, allowing him to pursue opportunities with other clubs effective immediately.

“By finalising this decision now, it provides both Zac and the club with clarity regarding the future, allowing us time to strategise for the upcoming seasons,” Ryan Webb, CEO of the Dragons, said.

“This arrangement enables the Dragons to focus on refining our Top 30 roster and utilising additional cap space, while Zac can pursue his future endeavours with another club.”

Despite this move, the Dragons hope that Lomax will continue to play an important part in the 2024 season as the squad strives for success.

The club will only consider a release this year if a player of significant standing is given in exchange, something our Head Coach, Shane Flanagan, is satisfied with.

“Zac has consistently demonstrated his talent and dedication to the club, especially in the face of external noise,” Flanagan stated.

“We have full confidence that he will maintain his high level of performance for the remainder of the season, benefiting all those associated with the Dragons.”
