Worst Nightmare Has Just Happened To Detroit Tigers………

Detroit Tigers’ Kenta Maeda (abdomen) and Jack Flaherty (back) aim to make their next start.

Detroit Tigers right-handers Jack Flaherty and Kenta Maeda are not expect to be placed on the injured list after suffering injuries in consecutive games.

In fact, both pitchers plan to make their next start.

“I always love it when the players are optimistic,” said manager A.J. Hinch. “They have to do the task. We’ll need to see a few things before we commit.”

Following Monday’s off day, Flaherty and Maeda are scheduled to start games against the Washington Nationals at Comerica Park on Tuesday and Wednesday. Both pitchers played catch on Friday, but they still need to complete their bullpen sessions.

“Time is on our side,” Hinch explained. “So there’s no pressure to make a decision. We’ll see how they feel day by day, and today was encouraging.”

Tigers pitcher Kenta Maeda walks off the field after injuring himself during the first inning against the Rangers on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in Arlington, Texas.

JACK IS BACK: It’s all coming together for Tigers’ Jack Flaherty, thanks to an unlocked slider.

Flaherty (lower back tightness) and Maeda (abdominal pain) were injured Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. Flaherty left after 60 pitches with tightness in his lower back, while Maeda left after two pitches with pain around his right ribcage.

Maeda wanted to continue in Wednesday’s game because he didn’t want to overburden the bullpen and force Hinch to take the ball out of his glove. Two days later, Maeda went out of his way to praise Hinch for taking him out after two pitches.

It was the wisest choice for his long-term health.
