Mark Pope is beginning from scratch. Literally. Following the announcement that another freshman would join the transfer portal on Friday, Kentucky will have no returning players next season.

Reserve Wing Jordan Burks was the last straw. It was revealed on Friday that he would leave Kentucky after only one season and enter the transfer portal.

Burks averaged 1.9 points in 20 games last season. He averaged only 7.1 minutes each game.

Before coming to Kentucky, Burks was a nearly four-star recruit at Hillcrest Prep (Ariz.) and Overtime Elite (Ga.).

Burks joins fellow freshmen DJ Wagner, Aaron Bradshaw, Joey Hart, and Zvonimir Ivisic in the transfer portal. Reed Sheppard, Rob Dillingham, and Justin Edwards, all freshmen, entered the NBA Draft. Sophomore Ugonna Onyenso is also entering the NBA draft.

Burks had previously committed to Ole Miss before changing his mind and choosing Kentucky.

“I’ve always been a big fan of Kentucky because of the atmosphere and culture,” Burks stated when he joined with them. “I’ve been watching since I was a kid and seeing all of the players develop and progress into pros and compete for titles every year made this a place I wanted to play at.”

Mark Pope has two commitments coming in. Four-star player Travis Perry, who was pledged to John Calipari but chose to stay, and former BYU commit Collin Chandler, who was a member of the 2022 class before embarking on a two-year mission.
