Worst nightmare has just happened to Detroit tigers Manager………..

Tigers’ Javier Báez Placed on IL With Back Injury; Ryan Kreidler Called Up.

The Detroit Tigers announced on Tuesday that shortstop Javier Báez was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to lumbar spine irritation.

His time on the IL is retroactive to Sunday.

Detroit also brought up infielder Ryan Kreidler from Triple-A Toledo in a comparable move.

Báez has been fairly durable for much of his career, appearing in 136 or more games per season since 2016, with the exception of the abbreviated 2020 season, when he featured in 59 of 60 games.

This is his third season with the Tigers, having spent the first seven-plus years of his career with the Chicago Cubs before being moved to the New York Mets in 2021.

His resume includes a World Series championship, a Silver Slugger Award, a Gold Glove, and two All-Star selections from his time with the Cubs, but he has battled to establish consistency in Detroit and is slashing. This season, he has an 183/.209/.247 batting line with one home run and 25 RBI in 53 games.

Following this setback, the Tigers will likely look to Zach McKinstry and Kreidler to help cover for Báez in the infield.
